Born in 1948 in Belfort, France
After studying philosophy in Besançon (graduating in 1971) and teaching for several years in the French national education system, he left the institution and became a freelance piano teacher. He pursued painting alongside his studies. His first solo exhibition in Paris took place in 1976 following a competition organized by an art gallery. Since then, he has exhibited in numerous galleries and contemporary art fairs.

Yves Hasselmann explores the fields of visual and musical creation together. These two worlds infuse him with a rhythmic energy and a symphony of emotions essential to his work. At 25, his encounter with the painters Jean Messagier and Ladislas Kijno led him to the discovery of abstraction. The singularity of his painting is expressed in his controlled mastery of forms and colors, which he applies with a clean, agile, and sensitive stroke of the brush or palette knife, evoking his gestures at the piano..."
