Sophie André (also known as OSA) is a French painter born in 1964 near Paris. After earning a Fine Arts degree in 2002, she furthered her education through evening classes at the ENSBA and the Duperré School. Her early practice explored the expression of the female body, gaining attention through exhibitions and discussions. Since 2015, André has focused on material experimentation and the use of color. Her process involves manipulating paint as a tactile presence on canvas and reusing studio papers, creating connections across works through form, color, symbols, and lettering.
