Salvador Dalí emerged from Figueres, Catalonia as a central figure in Surrealism, alongside Miró and Magritte. Known for his technical skill and flair for self-creation, Dalí drew on dreams and the subconscious to produce enduring works such as The Persistence of Memory (1931), now in MoMA’s collection. In addition to painting, he was a prolific printmaker and engraver, producing signed editions still sought after by collectors. Dalí’s legacy endures at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, which he designed and which stands among Spain’s most visited museums.
