Working in both oil painting and textiles, Petra Marian brings together the artistic traditions of her family heritage. Her large-scale canvases are shaped with oversized knives and tools, resulting in broad, powerful strokes that reflect her impetuous temperament. Marian’s practice is grounded in an early passion for drawing, color, mathematics, history, and embroidery—a multidisciplinary approach that informs her energetic and spiritually driven work. After studying economics at Babes-Bolyai University, she established studios in Guadeloupe, Romania, and later in Paris, where she is currently based.
