Paul Spina (1937–2017) was a Manhattan-based painter and visual artist known for his strong draftsmanship, vivid color, and dynamic compositions. Holding a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Spina combined elements from commercial illustration with a practice rooted in fine art, exhibiting across major American cities. His work blends expressive line, dramatic perspective, and found objects, drawing on influences ranging from Rembrandt to Pollock. Intensely personal in content, his paintings often feature layered iconography and channel a wide range of emotions, confronting themes of joy, loss, outrage, and the complexities beneath everyday life.
