Nicola Newman focuses on coastal landscapes in her oil paintings, drawing on experiences sailing along Australia’s east coast. Her work moves between representation and abstraction, reflecting on how light, weather, and shifting conditions produce transitory moments in the landscape. Since 2008, Newman has used excerpts from her personal diary as painting titles, offering an internal narrative alongside each image. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University in 2005, and has exhibited nationally and internationally since 2002. Her work is represented in the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery and in private collections in Australia and abroad.
