Mr. Brainwash is known for a transparent authentication system that applies to both his original works and limited editions. His canvases and mixed-media pieces, as well as his prints, are hand-signed on the front, feature his thumbprint, and display a serial number matching a certificate of authenticity issued from his Los Angeles studio. Many editioned works are screenprints on hand-torn archival paper, individually finished by the artist with spray paint or acrylic, making each unique. Poster editions with a printed, rather than hand, signature belong to a distinctly lower tier and are not equivalent to his hand-signed, thumbprinted works.
