Monika Köhler is a Berlin-based painter working primarily in oil with a focus on live realism. Her practice centers on the use of vibrant colors and the selection of unconventional subjects such as the light bulb. Köhler emphasizes sustainability by using only high-quality paints, which she mixes herself and applies in multiple layers to ensure the lasting value of her work. She studied art history at the Free University of Berlin and deepened her knowledge of image composition and painting techniques during extended stays in Tuscany and Volterra. Köhler further refined her oil painting skills through a long-term collaboration with Berlin painter Sabine Kasan.
