Michel TESTARD

France

Michel Testard’s paintings draw on an expansive personal geography shaped by life in Japan, Vietnam, Africa, the UK, and two decades in India. His work distills the impressions of places that served as temporary homelands—scenes like dawn on the Ganges, Ladakh’s sharp mineral light, Icelandic landscapes, and the crowded twilight of Rajasthani bazaars. Shifting between observation and invention, his subjects range from imagined Goan interiors and jungles to portraits of musicians, rajas, and yogis. Working in a spontaneous, expressionist style, Testard relies on colour, memory, and intuition. He also writes under the pen name François-Xavier Croisy, authoring the “Indian Chronicles.”
