Michel Laurent (b. 1970, Paris), also known as MichL, began his creative career in lighting design during the 1990s. After studying at École Boulle, where he gained foundational skills in wood sculpture, modeling, and drawing, he expanded his practice through blacksmithing internships that led him to work primarily with steel. Drawing on his training in industrial design and materials, Laurent has focused on metal sculpture, often creating large-scale installations. He works from an open-air workshop in Haute-Saône, France, handling most stages of production himself. Laurent exhibits his work in France and internationally, and regularly participates in sculpture symposiums.
