Meinrad Hoyer (b. 1965, Karlsruhe) creates paintings that shift between abstraction and figuration, marked by physical brushwork, material texture, and deliberate scratching. An intuitive and spontaneous approach defines his practice, informed by his self-directed study of art history and deep engagement with contemporary art as a longtime collector. Hoyer’s influences include Francis Bacon, Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Robert Rauschenberg. He has exhibited professionally since 2000, with appearances at international art fairs in Luxembourg and Cologne. Since 2017, Hoyer has been a permanent member of the Ingrid Renz Gallery.
