Credentials

  • Experienced Artist
  • Works on commission
Marilina Marchica (b. 1984, Agrigento) lives and works in her hometown. A graduate in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Marchica’s practice centers on the aesthetics of subtraction and the use of sign, drawing on architecture and walls as metaphors for the interactions between humanity, nature, and time. She works with fragments and discarded materials, moving toward abstraction in her examination of the relationship between form and matter. Marchica’s techniques include drawing, painting, casting, frottage, and collage, often transforming abandoned spaces into ephemeral interior landscapes. She has held solo exhibitions at FAM Gallery, San Sebastiano Contemporary, and Fondazione Brodbeck, and has participated in the FAM Award and an artist residency at Villa Aurea in the Valley of the Temples. Her works are included in public and private collections, such as the Museo delle Trame Mediterranee and the Fabbriche Chiaramontane.
