Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was a Russian-French artist born in Vitebsk, Belarus. His paintings merge elements of folklore, religion, and fantasy, reflecting both personal experience and universal themes. Chagall first depicted Russian-Jewish life in works known for their imaginative and lyrical qualities. After moving to Paris in 1910, his style was influenced by Cubism, particularly the work of Picasso and Braque, yet he maintained his singular poetic vision. Iconic paintings such as "I and the Village" and "Over the Town" remain among his most celebrated. Today, Chagall’s prints and lithographs continue to attract collectors drawn to his distinctive approach.
