Manuela Eibensteiner works primarily with spring water, natural pigments, salts, and incorporates materials such as resins, wood, gold, and crystals into her practice. Following a career in tourism, she developed a painting technique distinguished by layered glazes, ongoing cycles of destruction and overpainting, and extended drying phases that can last several months. Eibensteiner frequently paints on multiple layers of glass using reverse glass painting—recognized as UNESCO World Heritage—and gilds the works with genuine leaf gold, resulting in a distinct luminosity. Her work is shaped by a strong connection to nature and her homeland. Eibensteiner will present a solo exhibition, "The Golden Lion in Venetian Light," at Palazzo Pisani Revidin, Venice, in 2026.
