Kathrin Sehl

Germany

Kathrin Sehl works across analogue and digital painting, using ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and digital media. Her practice investigates the relationship between form, surface, and volume, moving between two and three dimensions. Recurring concerns include seriality, repetition, and the dynamics of grouped objects, which she addresses through arrangement, proportion, and the use of negative space to create rhythmic compositions that balance reduction and layering, order and chaos. Sehl’s digital works draw on a bespoke archive of symbols, applied with a specialized program that allows for both translucent and impasto effects. The resulting images read as abstract at a distance, while closer inspection reveals carefully structured themes.
