JOWU, born in Austria in 1971, is a self-taught artist known for developing Chromanarrativism, a painting approach where color serves as a conduit for states of being, tension, and transformation rather than decoration. Following the restoration of an ancient castle, painting became his means of seeking refuge and truth. JOWU holds an International MBA from IMC Krems (Austria) with additional studies in New York, and is fluent in German, English, and Spanish. Based in Spain, his work is exclusively represented by Susana García Castillo gallery in Roquetas de Mar, which manages his exhibitions and sales. His practice navigates the edge between reason and emotion, destruction and rebirth.
