Credentials

  • Famous Artist
Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) was an Austrian painter known for his detailed, symbolic works and enduring fascination with the human figure—especially themes of femininity, love, and mortality. Early in his career, Klimt’s classical style earned him the Golden Order of Merit from Emperor Franz Josef, notably for murals created for the Vienna Burgtheater. His later Gold Period, inspired by a visit to Ravenna, produced iconic paintings such as "The Kiss," "The Three Ages of Woman," and "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I." Although Klimt mentored artists including Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, his influence was not fully recognized in his lifetime. Today, Klimt’s paintings are celebrated and highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
