Gastone Cecconello (b. 1942, Vercelli) is an Italian artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Over five decades, he has developed a distinctive approach grounded in symbolism, materiality, and the recurring motif of the hominid as a metaphor for the human condition. Cecconello’s work reflects a sustained dialogue between the archaic and the contemporary, interweaving memory, myth, and the realities of daily life while balancing formal rigor with expressive intensity. In 2013, his career was surveyed in the monograph *Alle origini del mito*, edited by Lorella Giudici.
