Françoise Lavenu is a painter and engraver whose practice combines figurative abstraction with dynamic, impasto technique. She works mainly in oil, sometimes acrylic, applying paint with palette knives, spatulas, and her fingers to create gestural surfaces influenced by Expressionism, Fauvism, and Impressionism. Landscapes are central to her work, where she explores the balance of strength and gentleness and emphasizes raw emotion and interpretive freedom. Lavenu’s early interest in art developed through museum visits and travel, followed by studies at the Clermont-Ferrand School of Fine Arts, which she pursued alongside a hospital career.
