Francisco Benitez creates realist portraits influenced by classical and Baroque traditions. Raised between New York, New Mexico, and Spain, he draws on a multicultural background shaped by his mother’s career as a flamenco dancer and his father’s work as a Spanish set designer. Benitez’s paintings have been shown across the United States and Europe, including exhibitions at the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain de Nice and the Real Jardín Botánico in Madrid. His work is also held in the private collection of Jean-Paul Gaultier.
