Originally trained as a psychologist, Ellen Frischbutter built the foundation of her practice through early explorations with mandalas, focusing on non-verbal expression and intuitive perception. She later shifted her attention to painting, moving through watercolor and acrylic before adopting oil as her primary medium. Layered surfaces and visible strata are central to her method, giving her paintings spatial depth. Drawing from inner imagery, memory, and atmosphere, her compositions combine figurative elements with expressive abstraction, encouraging open interpretation. Frischbutter is a member of the ASM Club – International Artists Association and the VAA – Visual Artists Association, and has been shortlisted for the VAA Art500 | Momentum Programs | Preferred Artist.
