Based in Cancún, Mexico, Dmitry Spiros (b. 1971, Tashkent) is a painter trained in classical easel techniques. His work is defined by the use of palette knives, heightened chromatic contrasts, and layered surfaces. After an early focus on impressionist landscapes and studies of light, Spiros’s recent paintings center on the human figure. He characterizes this current practice as Ornamental Expressionism, using repetition, pattern, and fragmentation as foundational elements. In these works, color and surface tension build figures that move away from anatomical realism. Spiros’s paintings are included in private collections throughout Europe, Japan, and North America.
