Denys Eustace

France

Credentials

  • Works on commission
Denys Eustace creates abstract oil paintings shaped by a sustained engagement with philosophical inquiry. Drawing on Taoist and Greco-Roman traditions, his practice addresses concepts of emptiness, infinity, and impermanence. Rather than looking to the works of past painters, Eustace turns to their writings—such as Kandinsky’s "Concerning the Spiritual in Art"—and responds to the ideas explored by Klee, Mondrian, Lao Tzu, Heraclitus, Pascal, and Shitao. Self-taught as a painter, he expanded his knowledge through art history studies at the École du Louvre and through public lectures. Eustace has participated in approximately one hundred exhibitions in France and internationally, and lives and works between Paris and Normandy. His affiliations include the Taylor Foundation, French Artists, Independent Artists, Autumn Salon, and ADAGP.
