Working across portraiture, still life, landscape, and compositions that often evoke spiritual or mythological subjects, Besik Arbolishvili (b. 1955, Georgia) is known for a practice defined by tonal subtlety and structural harmony. A graduate of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts—first in Art History and Pedagogy (1981), then in Fine Arts (1986)—he emerged as part of the 1980s generation of Georgian artists whose work marked a transition from Soviet realism to more symbolic and introspective modes. Since 1976, Arbolishvili has exhibited in Georgia and internationally, including venues in Germany, the UK, Russia, France, Turkey, Italy, Kuwait, and the USA. His paintings are represented in collections such as the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, the Otto Pankok Museum, and the Moscow Museum of Oriental Art. His work “Winter” was selected for the Samsung The Frame online catalog.
