Bertrand De Miollis

France

Credentials

  • International Exposure
  • Prizewinner
  • Works on commission
Bertrand de Miollis grounds his artistic practice in travel, drawing on expeditions since 2002 that have taken him from Africa and the Trans-Chilean route to Paris–Kabul and Lake Baikal. He has joined French and British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, publishing his travel journals in both the press and with publishers. Alongside these journeys, de Miollis pursues "immobile journeys" through in-depth work on subjects such as polo, collaborations with conductor John Eliot Gardiner, and a residency at the Paris Opera. Trained at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, he works across watercolor, oil, engraving, and digital media, occupying a space between abstraction and figuration. His approach is defined by a focus on motif and a balance of chromatic intensity and softness.
