A self-taught realist painter, Bert Heersema brings a background as a paint technician in both industry and art education to his work. Based in Zwolle and originally from Anloo, he has completed more than 80 murals for private and corporate clients, building an international collector base with a particular presence in Europe and the United States. Heersema’s paintings focus on atmosphere and spatial simplicity, favoring a restrained color palette where subtle accents draw the eye. His approach balances recognisability with a sense of nostalgia, seeking to create paintings that reward close observation without relying on excessive detail.
