Bartolomeo Gatto is an Italian painter and sculptor whose work has been exhibited widely throughout Italy, Switzerland, the United States, and Germany. Since 1958, Gatto has presented approximately 200 solo exhibitions internationally and his work has been featured in both general and specialized publications. His practice moves through distinct periods, each shaped by his surroundings, including series such as Pietre Amanti, inspired by Sardinian granite, as well as bodies of work on themes from Cilento, childhood, spatial exploration, shapes and colors, and the bricconcelle. Gatto’s paintings and sculptures are held in various public spaces across Italy and have been acquired by major public and private collections. In 2022, the Bartolomeo Gatto Foundation was established to manage his archive and organize exhibitions.
