Working in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, Astrid Krömer blends representational landscape painting with atmospheric abstraction. Her practice draws on a background in design and over thirty years of experience as an artist and illustrator. Layered compositions, restrained palettes, and a focus on light and spatial effects define her approach, capturing the essence of maritime landscapes with a distinct sense of tranquility. Krömer earned her diploma in design, specializing in illustration and painting, from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) in 1993. She has exhibited widely since 1996 and was admitted to the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, in 2019. Krömer began her career in 1992, founding atelier9 and working as a freelance children’s book illustrator.
