ALO (Aristide Loria) is an Italian-born, naturalised British painter who has lived and worked in London since 2011. ALO creates highly stylized portraits characterized by intricate layering and a vivid contemporary energy. Working primarily in his studio, he paints with acrylics, brushes, and markers on canvas, a technique he also employs for urban wall paintings inspired by London’s environment. His male and female figures convey a mix of emotion—strength, tenderness, desperation, and dignity—aiming to reach beneath surface appearances. ALO’s approach has developed through formative experiences in Florence, Paris, and London, and his work has been exhibited across Europe.
