Alexander Chalovsky is an artist known for his work in modern art, graphics, and collage, and is an active member of the International Federation of Artists. Since his first public exhibition in 1992 marking the closure of Teeshen Market, Chalovsky has participated in key shows such as “The New Year’s Outrage” at the CHA and collaborated with Sergei Kuskov. His project “The Method of Nureyev,” inspired by Rudolf Nureyev, reflected his signature approach. Chalovsky’s practice draws on philosophy, poetry, anthropology, and a commitment to merging art and science. His paintings range from 1990s abstraction to more recent figurative works incorporating line art and Chinese graphic techniques, with influences from Expressionism, Egyptian art, myths, and the Strugatsky brothers. He is also recognized as an art professor and lecturer. His work has been exhibited at institutions including The Russian Cultural Centre in Paris, the Kirov Academy Days in Washington, the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, and the Pushkin Museum of Art in Kazan Kremlin.
