With a background in painting and scientific studies, Stefano Carulli investigates the aesthetic and symbolic possibilities of materiality. He first worked with alabaster plaster and concrete powder on wooden panels, producing surfaces reminiscent of geological formations and temporality. Carulli’s recent work extends into sculpture with the series **RetroFuture**, where contemporary objects are recast as fossil-like archaeological relics. Removed from their original context, these forms serve as traces of present-day civilisation, prompting reflection on memory, loss, and how the current era may be interpreted by future generations.
