Julee Latimer, based in Melbourne, produces dynamic, textural works that challenge conventional painting. Using a process of pouring paint onto plastic and peeling it away, she transforms paint into a solid material, merging aspects of textiles and three-dimensional form. Each work involves careful cutting and assembly, resulting in intricate, tactile compositions. Latimer’s art has been shortlisted for major prizes and is included in international collections such as Hotel Capella in Sydney, Hotel Conrad Orchard in Singapore, and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago. Her practice bridges painting and sculpture through a bold, fiber-inspired approach.
