Credentials

  • Major permanent collection
  • International Exposure
  • Works on commission
Jean-Jacques Pigeon, born in 1955 in Niort, is a French painter based in Anjou. He holds a doctorate in Art History, focusing on duality in painting. Pigeon is recognized for his work centered on trees, wood, and plant forms. His education at the Beaux-Arts and an art school in Poitiers was shaped by an artist-teacher associated with the Bauhaus and the BMPT group, who guided his commitment to artistic research. Influences from Simon Hantaï, Jean Dubuffet, American Minimalism, and Daniel Buren inform his approach. Emphasizing experimentation and reflection, Pigeon values a direct, emotional response in his work.
