Edu Arráez

Edu Arráez balances material abstraction and figurative portraiture in a practice shaped by an enduring respect for nature. Working with unconventional materials such as cement, wood, shavings, and natural pigments, Arráez constructs paintings that recall interior landscapes, the effects of time, and processes of erosion—an approach influenced by material informalism and a search for organic truth. Alongside his abstract work, he produces portraits of women on wood using charcoal and composite pencil, heightened by acrylic. These portraits combine visual force with technical discipline, reflecting his classical training in drawing. Arráez’s work moves between matter and emotion, engaging with traces of what disappears and what endures.
