Anja Gienger

Working from Tübingen, Anja Gienger creates abstract paintings defined by layered fields of color, vibrant contrasts, and experimental use of materials such as earth, pigments, ash, and fabric. She primarily works with acrylics, ink, and oils, building structures that evoke moments of transformation and polarity. Influenced by decades of experience in Taoist movement arts, including Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Bagua, and meditation, Gienger’s practice reflects on imperfection and the dynamic play of light and shadow. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and internationally since 1998. She became a member of GEDOK Reutlingen in 2026.
